As i said before, it was a lucky dream for you to have.
Here is another event.
My grandma died a few years ago, when i was 11.
I was the only person not to say "goodbye" to her on the hospital ward. She had already died by this time and i was too scared. Then it came to viewing her a few days before the funeral in her coffin. I didnt want to go in the room or walk past it but i was pushed in by her sister. I didnt see the full body butshe must have had a pillow in the coffin because i saw her head and face. I got out of the room though. I can't understand why her sister pushed me in though, why would you do that? I was 11.
Anyway, after her death i had lots of nightmares. Most of them were about family members trying to bring her back to life.
One in particular was me viewing the dream from a bird's point of view. So i was in the sky looking down. My mother, me and her auntie (the lady who pushed me into the room) where at a cash dispenser when my mother announced she had brought my grandma back to life. For some reason my grandma's neck was very long and she had a turtle neck on. I tried to get away because i watched the episode of Buffy the vampire slayer where Dawn tries to bring back her mother but it's not really her mother and they have to destroy the spell before she walks in the house (or something like that, LOL) so i was running all over but she kept chasing me.
More to come about my Grandma, god bless. |
Adults can be cruel towards kids, for some reason. I believe that a child has the right to know about death and given the chance to 'say goodbye' go to the funeral, etc, but not forced into doing these things. It's bad enough when adults don't want to do them!
My dad died suddenly from a massive heartattack at the age of 47 years. I had just returned from my honeymoon. We had driven back early in the morning from Cornwall and had just gone to bed for a sleep. I had been to sleep for about 3 hours and awoke with tightness in my chest and I felt 'weird.' About an hour later we received a phone call to say my Dad had died around the time I had awoke from sleep feeling unwell.
I viewed his body but didn't want to, infact although at the time, I was a psychiatric nurse and had seen death, seeing your own parent is a different thing. That night I had a dream about my dad as clear as daylight.
My dad was sitting up in his coffin and saying to me, 'Come and say goodbye to your old dad. Look it's me and I am fine.' So I went over and gave him a hug, he was warm and smelt just like my dad. I woke up crying because I firmly believe that he had returned for me to say goodbye to him.
Thanks for sharing your story.

Hi Gerry! It is amazing sometimes what dreams can be telling us. In later life I have learned to make note the pieces I can remember if I keep having the same theme for two nights in a row. Can't understand though why at the age of 16/17 I was told this. The actual occurance of it didn't happen until about 10 years later. The last I heard of her (we have all moved and started families) she was sickly but doing all right. She has two children and even though her husband is in the military he is very supportive. Her mom moved close to her and helps out often. Thank you for asking about her.
Folm, am wondering also what is a pot doll? Here in the states pot is associated with a drug. lol
It doesn't surprise me about your dreams dealing with your grandmother.
1) You being so frightened to say to goodbye. 2) The shock of seeing her in the coffin 3) The involvement of ghost huntings and cystals. 4) And possiblity the wanting her to be alive. The mind can conjure up so many emotions we are going through and put them on a screen that can either comfort us, baffle us, or frighten us.

Gerry - The dream must have been hard but comforting at such a time. Sorry for your loss x At least you have been blessed to "say goodbye" through a dream.
Thunder - Yes i understand. The mind is very powerful at the best of times but can break down at the worst. Also about your friend, it's good to hear she is okay. I didn't know whether to ask or not due to the circumstances. x
Pot dolls! Well i assumed it was a universal thing but the correct name for these dolls is porcelain! I wasn't sure at first but did a bit of research on the internet ;]
Pot over here is associated with a drug (LOL) but i havent been stuffing dolls with it, don't worry.
Here is a link. The picture itself was too big to post LOL. The doll i had was similar in detail. They are very beautiful but i just didnt appreciate it at that time.

Well, I'm not a 'doll' kind of guy, but I have to say - that's a nice doll!
My opinion on dreams is that they're unreliable and often meaningless. It's hard to know the significant ones from the rest. I mentioned before that I had some precogitive dreams a few times that came true, and a handful of extemely important dreams. Sometimes the meaning only becomes clear in retrospect.
The old author/philosopher P.D. Ouspensky researched his dreams, and trained himself to wake and write down what her remembered. He had a recurring dream about being stuck in quicksand, unable to free himself. He struggled with what this could mean, assigning various possibilities to it. Later, he realized each time he awoke from the dream, the blankets were tangled around his legs - mystery solved.
I did train myself as a very young kid to stop recurring bad dreams. I had a recurring dream about walking on logs in a swamp, and the logs suddenly became crocodiles, and I awoke in fear. Then I told myself it was a dream, and that the next time I step on a croc, to remind myself it's only a dream.
The next time I had that dream, I told my self "this is stupid" and the dream stopped.
But I think dream analysis is almost impossible, as any meaning can be assigned. Usually, dreams are just to work out problems of the day. We also dream every night, but forget them when we go into a deeper sleep state. That said, we are still granted insights with profound dreams sometimes, and those are blessings. (my opinion only)
