Time slip-residual haunting...are we talking about different levels of the same phenomena here? My wife had an experience a few years ago at a nursing home that stood on the ground of an old school. She was doing her drug round in the early hours of the morning when she looked down the corridor and found a woman standing there looking at her in rather prim Victorian dress, looking somewhat shocked. They both paused for a second looking at each other and then the woman walked through a closed door into a storage room with no exits. My wife was so convinced of what she saw that she checked the storage room to find nothing. As she says this wasn’t a vapours apparition, nor was it anything to fear, in fact at first she thought it was one of her staff. As far as she’s concerned this was just someone getting on with their job.

From my own research into the subject once you get away from the Hollywood/media driven fear and hysteria regarding ghosts and hauntings (not a new thing I admit and probably driven by our own fears of the unknown) so many ‘ghosts’ just seem to be going around doing whatever they do in their day to day lives (or deaths depending on your thoughts of what a ghost is). However a ghost that is on its way to cook dinner for the family, before going down to the pub for a couple of hours isn’t as good a story as the ghost of an evil killer who terrorises a poor family...

What a fantastic account of your wife!! I wonder what the other Victorian woman thought, when she saw a modern day equivalent. Its interesting that they both stopped and looked at each other. It makes me wonder if they can only see each other and the surroundings remain unchanged. If thats the case where does this area end..i.e like a field around each person so that each still stays in their respective zone, just each persons body, overlaps each.

Fantastic account Phil. I find this subject absolutely fascinating. Great posts guys!

That would be great, Turtle. This is a great thread, so it would be nice to have more examples. I'd read ficitonal accounts, but wasn't aware previously that people had experienced these time shifts.

Wow, it's astounding just how many fascinating experiences people have isn't it? Your wives experience reminds me of one my partner had when he was laying in the bath and a man in victorian clothing walked alongside the bath and turned his head to stare at my partner as he continued walking by. Personally, I find accounts such as these far more frightening than the hollywood ghosts. The thought of a ghost cooking and going about their business in my home is totally freaky! Anyway, thank you so much for sharing this with us ... freaky or not I still want to hear about them! Smile

Oh I love this thread and I too have a story! Lol somebody once asked me if I had anything paranormal happen to me, well I reply, 'a few,' but I have met loads of people who have had tons of paranormal experiences!!

Right, my friend Tanya at work is psychic, she sees and hears dead people. In fact I am going to tell her about this site so she can post for herself!! She told me this story and it is great and fits in so well with the topic.

Tanya was at one point in life, a single mother of two young children. She had come out of an abusive marriage and was making a go of it alone. She had a very young baby son and a toddler daughter. Now she lived in a flat within a old building, I think it was a 2 bedroom flat. It was afternoon and the kids are taking a nap, I think, she can come back and correct me on this! Tanya goes in to the toilet and leaves the door open in case one of the little ones needs her. She is sitting on the toilet, as you do, and suddenly in front of her, coming up the stairs as large as life is a woman, dressed in servant's dress, you know, long dark dress with an over pinafore and little mop-cap. Tanya says she is sitting there with her mouth open! The woman is carrying a pile of clean linen, sheets etc. She walks past a very shocked Tanya and walks into a cupboard but does not come out! Lol she is so matter of fact about this story that I cannot believe she did not freak out, because I would have!!!

Anyhow, I am going to email her tonight and tell her she is now famous!! I am hoping that she will join Ghostsamongus - now boy does she have some tales to tell, about the house she now lives in!!

Tanya said it was over in literally seconds, but the woman did not come out!

WOW, Gerry! I sure hope she joins!! This account is fascinating! I can't wait to read all the other things she may have experienced!

It's so interesting to know that while there are true hauntings around us and ghosts that can interact with a person, there can also be accounts like this one, when if the ghost doesn't acknowledge your presence, it could be because it is a timeslip as well!

Thanks Judy - strange though that she actually interacted with the man - she was obviously aware of him and if it was her that was killed during the second world war, then she would have been a ghost, I suppose.

I remember now that Viv asked her neighbours about who had lived in the house and they said that a family had lived there and during the war, it had been the daughter of the woman resident who had died. She was around 7 years of age.

Oh yes!! She has seen a little girl in her house and amazingly the little girl also appears next door! She also has a man that she sees on her stairs. But hey I will let her explain!
