I was researching something when I came across these two videos. The first one gets a little monotonous after a minute or two but as the poster says, please be patient. The second one shows a very similar object, with close-ups. Any ideas about these? Confused

What I firstly want to know is what you were researching, Gwinni! Secondly was that object filmed near to you?

I believe that they were very similar indeed, almost to the point where you could say quite safely, that they were one and the same. What they are, is not so easy to conclude. But amazing footage. It would have been nice to have some language translation on the Russian video though, all the same, very mind boggling!

I know, the Russian was a bit mystifying! Laughing I was researching for a short article I'm planning to write about somewhere in this region. Wink

Well I thought it looked like a static light and wondered if it could just be an electric street lamp. You know how you sometimes get those really tall street lights that go way above busy roads and roundabouts?

Whatever the cause of the light, the shapes that were being produced were caused by too slow a shutter speed to cope with the distance involved. If you've ever tried to photograph the moon you'll know what I mean. So in truth, the strange v shape is irrelevant, and if they'd zoomed in on the street lights below they'd probably have got the same effect.

No idea...it seems a bit high to be a street lamp.

Interesting idea about the shutter speed. Our brains see things and try to piece them into something recognizable but a camera or other recording devise has to rely on light and images hit it and then record it, which may produce something different. As an odd example, if you try to photocopy a hard to read photograph, only parts of the image will come out- know what I mean? I'd LOVE for this to be real, but who knows?
