I have never stopped feeling things. I see shadows when I have these feelings, but have not clearly "seen" anything in a few years. Due to my family telling me to let it be, unwilling to help me understand it and develop it, I tried to ignore it. I began to "see" less and less. The feelings have never lost their power to grab my attention.

I can't explain it, but in the past six months, I have this internal nagging that I need to do something about not ignoring it anymore. I don't know why, I wish I did.

Being told my entire life to ignore it, I have no idea how to heighten it or if I even should. Something inside of me is driving me to find out more and get on with it. My brain is telling me what I have heard my whole life, let it be, ignore it, remember what happened to me, your mother? Problem is my heart tells me that I need to do this. If that makes any sense?

Sorry sometimes it is so hard for me to "open up" about these things. I am so comfortable here and feel like this is the right place for me to be. I think that I am trying to understand why this war is raging inside me.

I really think that if we ignore these area's, we start to loose them. If you feel that you should explore them again and try to heighten your ability to use them, then I think you should.

Awwww, I know how you feel hun. It was only 7 months ago that I was in the same situation. It's a very difficult decision to make! I personally decided to embrace it, to go with the flow, and in all honesty, haven't regretted it for one moment!!

Jenn, you can't ignore a part of you! Being psychic is part of who you are! You should really try to open up to it, but little by little, else the charge would be too great! What happened to your mother was a consequence of fooling around with the Ouija board, not because she used the 'powers' she had, but because she opened doors she should never have opened.

You need to read about psychic abilities and learn about them as much as possible. Education is the best you can do right now so you know what you are dealing with and you know how to control it the best. I have some links that I'm including below. As soon as you learn how to control them, then you can control the amount of 'tapping in' so to speak, but a little at a time. Imagine a dam that has built up. If you let it crash out, the results would be disastrous! But if you start to take the water out, a bucket at a time, then it will be fine!

Of course, the links I am including below are how to START developing and learn to control them...you will have to read and study about them, I did this too, but when I was a teenager. I read for a whole year and bought (no internet in those days) lots of books with my allowances. I came to grips with it and little by little the 'war' raging inside me was subdued.

Ignore the links that say, get a reading...just continue reading and absorbing everything. It's better not to get readings of any kind but read and study at this point. You'll be able to understand better if you just read and will have the tools to discern the signs better.

Every site will tell you that your pysychic abilities are controlled by your chakras. Google for chakras and read up on them if necessary.

Now, if you take the time to read and learn about your abilities, and slowly begin to embrace them, the war will stop and what is better, you will learn how to control them and they will not frighten you as you will UNDERSTAND them too! Sorry I wrote such a long post, but I kinda get carried away!

I agree with the other members, you need to at least investigate your abilities and learn about them, then decide whether you want to take it further. The fact that it's been nagging you indicates that it's important to you.

I totally agree with what Patty said, both about your Mum and the ouija board being the cause of the problem, and about learning a little more about the subject.

Take things slowly. There are books about psychic development out there so check some of those out. DO read our threads on psychic protection and learn how to cover your back. I suspect that just by opening your mind to the possibility, and by hanging out at places like this, you will automatically progress somewhat. But I think it's important to never push yourself further than you feel comfortable with.

I have read a few books about psychic abilities. The last one I read was an Edgar Cayce book on the subject. I am going to read A LOT more! I will be reading the threads about protection as well.

I think subconsciously I had already made my mind up, but until I started here at this forum I was not willing to admit the possibility to myself. If that makes sense?

I know that I have only been here a few days, but somehow I think I was meant to find this website. I feel so much better about a few things that I have experienced in my life, just by reading that the same things happen to others.

I think those inner urges are signs to at least open up, if not to also act on it in some way. It may also be a spiritual yearning, but I don't mean in a strict religious way.

I visited the Edgar Cayce library in Va. Beach many times years ago. The only difficulty I had was the depth of his observations were open to so much interpretation, it was hard to gain the specifics I was looking for at the time.

The best barometer here is to follow your heart, and take slow, safe steps to find out exactly what it is you're seeking.

I did a lot of reading about Edgar Cayce, but it's been quite a few years ago. I think he was remarkable, but know what you mean, it was very difficult to understand the actual text of the readings he gave!

I found the book Edgar Cayce on Mysteries of the Mind by Henry Reed to be the most helpful. It had a big impact on my thinking about the mind, intuition, the unconscious and the ways in which we are linked through it. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in getting to know more about how the mind works. What I found most interesting is his explanation of Cayce's statement that we are all part of The One Mind. Think of it as a big pointy star. Our conscious mind is one point of the star which seems separate from all the other points on the star, but at the base we are linked to and part of the bigger One Mind and it is because of this that we are also linked telepathically, although most people are unaware of this connection or not able to easily access it.

I really liked the earlier book he wrote. I found his explanations to be clear and understandable, and since they are based on the teachings of a true psychic, I trust them. I can't say they have made me more psychic, but my interest then and now is more in living a more spiritual life.

I know this is a very late response, but who knows this just might be the right time for it for whatever reasons it maybe.

I feel what ever path one chooses to follow in life should come from the heart in making them decisions and also having a destination in sight will help arrive sooner to that place there heart desires to be. With that said I say simply listen to your heart and all else will follow.
