This is another classic ghost photo which can be seen on different sites on the net. Lord Combermere had been run over by a carriage before this picture was taken in the Combermere Abbey library. The figure in the chair on the left is thought to be that of Lord Combermere. What do you think of this one?

Here is an enhancement:

I saw this one a while back. Don't you think he is tiney tiny and not proportionate to the chair?

It goes back to that posts we wrote about, would ghosts be the same size they were in life or would they be variant? If the size was what it should be I would probably of gone....ooooo look at that..... but now, I''m a bit suspicious.

Lord Combermere was killed by a horse drawn carrage in 1863 and the image was taken in 1891. Would be interesting to see if high rounded collars were used in the mid 1800's as I thought they were more late Victorian (or the age when the photo was taken) Also the Combermere's were no strangers to the paranormal, will do some further research later. But his wife was involved in the moving coffins of Barbados in 1819

Secondly, how do we know its Combermere? The image isn't very clear and could be anyone .. although I found a pic of him in the younger years..

Will look at this a bit further later Smile

Thanks for posting it, its really interesting especially the link the with moving coffins.

I have to agree..something seems off about this pic...while I have always liked it..and If I don't think too hard about it( might hurt myself) it can give me the chills....but the arm seems too solid..and alot of things in that pic are blurred almost as if the camera was moving at the time...so it does make ya wonder! Smile

I don't have any problem with the guys proportions, and I do think it seems to resemble Combermere. But I'm finding the whole picture very confusing! There seems to be so much mistiness and bright light going on; and a few other little oddities. I can't make head nor tail of it! Seems to me like someone got a little carried away in playing with it.

Ok, this is a long shot, but I noticed the collar being what appears to be Late Victorian around 1900 rather than 1860. I put a couple of picks up to see if you can see what I mean.

The image is so poor so its only a guess it is even a high collar. But if it is, this picture was not taken in 1860 as the story goes but rather later on in the early 1900's which I would lean to anyway just based on the quality.

during the era of the 1860's pictures seem to be a monochrome, almost bronze effect, while early 1900 photography was more black and white. Although I have not researched that fully as to the chemicals, I can see with a bit of work we could at least date the picture. Which would disprove the story in an instance.

Here are the collar images:

1900's

1863

The first time I saw this pic, I had to look hard to see what they were referring to! Interesting details, Sean...I hadn't noticed the collar bit!
