I saw this photo in my book of paranormal in Russian language,
but it was the times that ghosts on photos were fake,so
i don't believe much.

I've found the original story behind this photo. It's taken from Anomalies-unlimited.com

In 1959, Mabel Chinnery went to the cemetery to visit her mother's grave. She took a photo of the grave, then a picture of her husband who was sitting in the car waiting for her. When the photo was developed, Mrs. Chinnery's mother appeared in the back seat even though she was quite dead, laying in the grave a few dozen feet from the car. The family would often go out for rides and when living, this is where the lady would automatically sit. A photographic expert who examined the photo and negative for a British newspaper said he'd stake his reputation and job on his verdict that the negative wasn't tampered with and the photo was genuine.

I was really taken with Judy's point about the lack of car seat behind the driver, and I thought, Oh this is it ... we've caught them out! However, I couldn't ignore the fact that when I zoom in on the pic, I just don't see any evidence of photoshopping at all! So I got off my lazy butt and have been searching for Morris Minor pics (it is a morris minor yes?) I found a number of pics which are relative to our queries.

Firstly, it seems that the front seats are very low, as shown in the 1st pic of the convertible. In the ghost pic there is a tiny bit of seat visible, and comparing the two, it does look right to me.

Secondly, I found various views of the car which show that solid 'black out' panel. And also views of the rear window which I think show that the ghost cap IS correct and at least in that respect hasn't been tampered with.

Thirdly, I found a pic where there is someone sitting in the rear of the car. Looking at their position and the position of the wide panel, again leads me to believe that the original photo is valid.

I can't come to a conclusion that the photo has been faked. It could of course be a real live human in the car and they might be telling us a big fib ... maybe it's just wishful thinking on their part that the mother in law was really dead! But I have to say, I think this is a genuine ghost possibility!

Excellent detective work, Ruby! So, once a back seat driver, always a back seat driver? Wink

Here is the la cropped version of the last of your research photos side by side with the ghost photo.

Different years, but very similar, so the persepctive is probably correct.

Perfect!!! Well done to both of you, in finding the comparative angle!! Its a match and furthermore shows that the area of the person in the back is in fact ...shade.. Now that has been completed, it certainly shows it is possible. The last question is... is it real. i.e the glowing eyes?

Yes, I think it's now all down to the figure itself. It certainly looks, real and solid, and those glasses obviously have the solidity and realism that you would expect an earthly object to have. I can only presume that the camera flash would pick up on the glasses in that way ... it seems likely to me.

I guess now it's all down to our interpretation of how a ghost looks. There are too many accounts of ghosts appearing as solid as when they were alive to dismiss the possibility. In fact, that reminds me of a story my Nan told me ... Once she was engrossed in vaccuming the carpet, and as she reached the sofa, she said to the person sitting on it, 'Lift your feet up' ... then she looked at the man sat there and saw it was one of her dead relatives!

Wondering if it is possible for the spirit to absorb the surrounding light making it darker in that area.

I go with Ruby - we just know so little about the paranormal. What do we really know about what spirits can or cannot do? Can they metamorph into other objects - can they reduce in size, squeeze into tiny little cracks and crevices, even take on the appearance of the living? I reckon that the laws that govern what a spirit can or cannot do, are infinite and totally different from any physical laws we have. Now I am going away to ponder those thoughts over a glass of Pinot Grenache!
