One place that absolutely fascinates me is this place.... Tombstone... The birthplace of epics such as gunfight at the OK corall... characters such as Johnny Ringo, Doc Holliday and Curly Bill Brocius and wild west... Its an epitomy of what us Europeans view old America to be like. What better place to find spooks then this place with its mosaic of gun fights..murders and executions.

I googled quite a few images of ghosts from this part of the world and they are truly fascinating.

Rather than post all the pics I found.. I found a great link clantongang.com/oldwes...smenu.html

But here is one of the best known ones: With the boy in the grass....

Sean, what a great thread!
This photo was taken when NOBODY, was standing behind the guy in the picture. It supposedly shows a man in a black hat standing at an odd angle.
I have my doubts about this one, simply because Tombstone is a tourist attraction. I do know that it has been examined, and it hasn't been proved a fake yet, though!
Could it be reproduced by a human being? Just thinking aloud here... Confused

I thought this was actually taken at Boot Hill in Dodge City, Kansas.

I think it was mis-labelled where I saw it before because I know it said Dodge City. Somebody from Kansas must have googled "Boot Hill" and got that not knowing that nearly all those towns called their cemetaries "Boot Hill" and assumed it was in Dodge City when they reposted it. But...I can guarantee that you are correct. We barely had anything you could call "hills" in Kansas let alone any hunk of land sticking up like those mountains in the background.

To me... it looks like a kid not an adult. What is odd is that he is either kneeling down or as the site I got it from says.. coming out the ground.....hmmm

Anyway...What I find interesting is the refracted light coming off this kids face (And the adult.) Both comes from the same angle, which clearly the man is real and thus reflects the light but the boy displays the same qualities as in the light is clearly reflecting off something... A close up of the boy..even shows him squinting in the bright desert light...

So all in all, although I have seen other ghosts photos where the ghosts reflect light ...this ones seems pretty solid (Apart from the missing legs)

It looks to me like there is actually a hill in front of him. In my experience in that area and with that type of terrain there are a lot of small ravines that are pretty narrow but fairly deep, cut into the ground over time from water run-off in the lower areas between the small hills. Do you think it could actually be someone standing in one of those? That said, I think its a little further back than it appears and I don't necessarily think if it is someone standing in one of those it even necessarily is a small boy.

Yes, I do believe it could be...as a matter of fact, we really don't have any info about the terrain itself, other than the fact that this was taken in the cemetery, nothing more is said about the surroundings.
There is a close-up of the figure on the link Sean supplied above, and it looks like a young man to me. I wonder if it is someone playing a prank? It looks that way!

It could well be patty. I dunno... it looks awfully flesh like, Siege you give such a valid point about the terrain. To my shame, I never even thought of it! LMAO oops.

I have never been to this area but maybe one day or if any of our members get the chance, we could re-create that picture. That would be interesting, especially if a theory could be built around it. such as terrain.

To be honest, I think patty might be right about pranks. I am sure there would be local kids around the area... I know as a child.. I probably would of done something similar to the hordes of tourists that descend on this place.

Some great points!

I've been to to Tombstone, to that cemetery. It was probably about 10 years ago, but I believe the cemetery was on a hill with the entrance at the top and we can assume this man is at the top of the hill with the cemetery dropping off behind him. The person behind him looks awfully real to me. I think the person could be on a path just walking through the cemetery. People always say no one was there, but who really remembers? The photos usually aren't developed (if film) or looked at (if digital) until well after the event and then you can't prove no one was there.

I have always liked this one..but it is soo hard to tell if it is faked..there isn't much to help determine distance between Real guy and ghost..so our perception is already thrown off. I also thought it kinda looks like a woman..the clothes..or what little we see, reminds me of what woman "gunfighters" wore back in the 1800's..not all wore dresses. Many wore more masculine clothing. I enlarged the image some..played arround with it as well..it is pretty solid.
